Keeping things to yourself is tough, especially when it’s exciting as this. After plotting and planning for the last couple of months we’re proud to announce the first new act to join the Friends Vs family in quite a while.
This new addition is the fantastic Wild Party. They’re five kids from Texas and their bedroom demos bring to mind the chaotic world rhythms of Vampire Weekend colliding with the sophisticated pop of the Strokes. Add in some classic pop moments from the sixties and seventies and shake with a healthy amount of whisky and you’re probably getting somewhere close to where WP’s music sits. We’ll be dropping their first single, a double a-side featuring Take My Advice and Life’s Too Short (which is available as a free download below), on November 8th.
You can also catch the band on tour with the Wombats through October. Pre-order details for the 7″ single and the digital download will be available soon, but in the meantime enjoy some free music HERE.
Last October we released the debut album by Canterbury. It was called Thank You and you can still purchase one of the very few remaining physical copies here. We also gave you the chance to download the entire record for free, and you can still get hold of the record in digital format here.
Anyway, just under one year later, one member and a ton of tour dates (including runs with Enter Shikari and Billy Talent) down, Canterbury are back with new material. They’re releasing a new single, Calm Down, which drops digitally on the 25th October this year. Our relationship with Dinosaur Pile-Up here at Friends Vs Records goes way back. We were big fans of singer Matt Bigland’s old outfit, Mother Vulpine, over three years ago, and have been working alongside DPU since their first single ‘My Rock ‘n’ Roll’ back in January 2009. Therefore, it’s with great pleasure that I can announce (albeit a little belatedly, you’ve probably heard it somewhere else by now) that Friends Vs Records will be releasing Pile Up’s debut full-length, GROWING PAINS on the 4th October this year.
